Money
Investment growth
A starting balance plus a monthly deposit, grown over time.
Result
Enter a starting amount or a monthly deposit, a return, and a number of years.
How this works
The balance grows once a month at one-twelfth of the annual return. After that growth, the monthly deposit is added. That is an end-of-month deposit. A 0% return just adds the deposits to what you started with.
The chart is the balance at each year-end. “Growth” is the part that is not money you put in. Markets do not pay a flat return, and this page ignores taxes and fees.
An example
$5,000 already set aside, $200 added at the end of each month, 6% a year, for 15 years. The headline is the ending balance. The rows split that into money you contributed and growth on top.
